K – Kovai Senthil | A-Z Challenge

K for Kovai Senthil in the list of Actors we are seeing in the A-Z Series.

The letter of K was a bit of tough as I had many actors as a potential choice. But what made me choose him over anybody is Kovai Senthil is a known face and we do enjoy his performance for a very long time but many of us might not even know his name.

Debuted in a small role in K. Bhagyaraj’s 1980 film Oru Kai Osai, he has done a lot of characters. Idhu Namma Aalu, Thirumathi Pazhanichaami, Aararo Aariraro, En rathathin rathame, Avasara Police 100, Padayappa are some of the prominent movies in which he featured. He can be prominently seen in most of the K. Bhagyaraj movies from the 80s and 90s. He has featured in more than 200 movies in supporting and comic roles.

I am going to talk about two of my favourite scenes in which he featured and steals the show. First of it is from the movie Aai(2004). Aey or Aai is an action comedy movie written and directed by A. Venkatesh starring Sarath Kumar, Kalabhavan Mani, Vadivelu and Namitha. In one particular scene involving Vadivelu and Kovai Senthil stands one of the best moment. Kovai Senthil’s honest reaction and eagerness make this scene a memorable one. You can watch the scene below.

The second is my all-time favourite and this scene which lasts just for a few minutes justifies my inclusion of him in the list. This scene is from the Vikraman movie Unnai Ninaithu starring Surya, Laila, Sneha, Ramesh Kanna, Charlie and so on. R. Sundarrajan plays the role of an aspiring singer. He plays a song to a Producer in this scene hoping that he would get a chance. Enjoy this scene to savour the tremendous performance of Kovai Senthil. Trivia:

In 2016, Kovai Senthil met with an accident while travelling with a fellow friend and actor Selva Kumar. In that Selva Kumar lost his life while Senthil escaped with injuries. From then on he is not much actively seen taking up any roles. Below is the image of Actor Selva Kumar.
