Koffee with Karan – Season 7 finale: The ‘butt-hole of TV shows’

“Why?” is the only question that lingers every-time a new episode releases.

The season finale was hyped so much , even a hater like me was looking forward to it. This episode was supposed to be an ultimate roast session but, sadly, this was agonising to watch. The finale episode of Koffee with Karan has proved that even influencers and comedians can’t save the fans from the ultimate mundane experience. As Danish Sait said on the show, “Koffee with Karan is like butt crack. You know you shouldn’t look, but you can’t keep yourself from looking.” That’s what this top-rated celebrity gossip show is.

For the final episode, Karan invited comedy sensations Tanmay Bhatt and Danish Sait, along with influencers Kusha Kapila and Niharika NM, to his couch of manifestation. With a season full of unsettling events and comments from the “esteemed” host, Karan Johar, this episode gave a little relief after Karan’s clarifications and funny comebacks from Bhatt.

The comedians first brought Karan under the radar for taking Alia Bhatt’s name more than she says Shiva in Bramhastra. Moreover, Karan also clarified the much-needed controversy of being partial to Jahnvi Kapoor over Sara Ali Khan. With too many jokes about David Dhawan dating Karan Johar, Karan apologised to the filmmaker during the show. Despite all the jokes, Karan’s deliberate attempt at clearing his name was apparent, be it through the breezy rapid-fire round, or dealing with allegations.

Moreover, there have been very few occasions where Karan was dealt a blow. But in this episode, Bhatt didn’t miss the chance when Karan attempted to make fun of Sait’s hairstyle, to which Bhatt said, “Karan, has anyone ever told you that you’re a bitch?”

With what remained to be an award show, the whole thing seemed more like a child’s play. For instance, once Niharika voted for Ranveer Singh just because Karan was calling the winners. Niharika hardly stepped out of her Instagram reel persona, apparently upset over the price of the ticket she took to fly down from LA. And having prepared a lot of jokes for the show, Kusha Kapila instead chose to ask Karan some flattering questions.

Apatt from these, the only jokes which landed were ones in the 1 min promo cut. Anyway, let’s talk about the well rehearsed questions, sarcastic replies and timed pauses. KwK is running out of substance and routine questions about people’s sex lives and their mental health.

At this point, we are not even sure whether it’s a talk show or it’s just another platform for celebrities to display their victim mentality. We do have a love – hate relationship with this show..lol. So, Danish Sait and Kusha Kapila, they ran out of content a long time ago which is natural but, Niharika, man she was doing so well with her funny yet relatable content, and Bollywood had to ruin it for us by pulling her into all their movie promotions.

Then comes Tanmay Bhatt, the only one who played well in the whole fiasco. He shot some spiked arrows at KJo and he was sweating. Karan nailed his own coffin in this finale. AMEN !
