Rise of Mrunal Thakur From TV to Sita Ramam
To steal the show from other casts in a multi-starrer film is a big deal for any actor. When Mrunal Thakur started her career, little did she know she would rule hearts through a Telugu movie. Sita Ramam’s recent success is no less than a significant milestone for Mrunal’s career. Although she has acted in various Bollywood titles in the past, her career took off from acting in Hindi TV serials.
In 2012, Mrunal began her acting career with the Hindi television soap ‘Mujhse Kuchh Kehti…Yeh Khamoshiyaan.’ Following the hit series, she starred in another hit TV serial ‘Kumkum Bhagya,’ which got Thakur in the eyes of prominent filmmakers. Her journey to the Hindi cinema started when she landed the lead role of Sonia Singhania in the 2018 film ‘Love Sonia.’ Before starring in the phenomenally successful Sita Ramam, she also starred in films like Super 30, Batla House, Jersey, etc.
As a kid, Thakur would watch television on mute as she was not usually allowed to watch TV much. Then, she realised that much of acting is just face and eyes; words come later. That is how Thakur adapted her acting skills and prepared herself to embody different characters. Speaking with the Hindustan Times, Mrunal opened up about being ignored by Bollywood and that she had to beg the filmmakers to see her potential. However, now she is working with great filmmakers who recognise her potential and may bless us with another hit.
Her glory through this hit Telugu film is not short-lived, unlike the traditional Bollywood life cycle. As superstars like Kangana Ranaut praise Mrunal for her role, she also mentioned that Mrunal’s reign is only starting. Another evidence of her stardom is her Instagram followers, which rose from 4.4 million to 5.4 million in just four weeks.
