D – Dilip/ Dileepan | A-Z Challenge | Actors Series
For the letter of D, I wanted to talk about two actors. First of them is R. Dilip.
R. Dilip is one of the most prominent actors who we forget to notice. He gives his best yet hides/ gets lost in the shadow of a bigger star or a movie. He is our man with no name in Varumayin Niram Sigappu. His nameless character decides the fate of the rest of the cast. He gives a beautiful performance which is overshadowed by the star performances of Kamal Hassan and Sridevi. Another wonderful performance of Dilip is the character of Peter Fernandes, his subtle and crucial role is overlooked due to the sound and awesome performances of Manorama, Visu and Lakshmi. Even Kishmu gets noticed in a small stint. Dilip is the guy you meet every day. Dilip is that guy whom you remember on seeing but he lives the character that you forget the individual.
You can watch Varumayin Niram Sivappu online in here.
One of my all-time favourite scene in the same movie.
The second actor for the letter D is Dileepan. Radha Mohan’s debut Azhagiya Theeye launched the career for many. The long association with Radha Mohan made everyone notice Prasanna as a performer, MS Bhaskar as a versatile actor and Elango Kumaravel as a casual actor who subtly conveys emotions. But in Azhagiya Theeye one of the most overlooked characters was of Bala played brilliantly by Dileepan. His comedic timing is impeccable, he blends mockery and frustration perfectly and made Bala a household name. His interactions with Annachi (MS Bhaskar) will make you laugh out loud. When I was watching the movie again for a reference I am unable to stop watching the movie, Dileepan totally owned the character despite it being just another friend to the protagonist. Apart from this he also starred in Pattiyal, Ponniyin Selvan and Sinthanai Sei. He acted as a lead in the movie Sembattai which unfortunately ended up his last movie.
You can watch Sembattai online in here.
P.S:
It is sad to note that both these actors are no more and many of us are not even aware of the demise of the above two actors.
Coincidentally both these actors died in the year of 2012 due to failed health.
