A – Z Challenge | Directors Series | Q – Qaushiq Mukherjee
There are instances where we love the work of a director or hate the work of the director then comes the instance where you are baffled about the work. Qaushiq Mukherjee or Q as he popularly known is one such director. You know that his movies holding some artistic value but unsure whether you like it or not. This happens when you are presented with something different from the conventional sense. Q primarily makes movies in Bengali and is looking to experiment with Hindi movies.
Q came to worldwide fame after 2010 film Gandu. Gandu talks about a teenager whom everyone calls as Gandu to demean him as a loser. His life transition from a loser to a successful person with a lot of rap, alternative rock, weed, and nudity told in a meta-narrative forms the movie. The movie was slammed as oorn by few due to the explicit nature but Q dismissed it by terming it as a rap musical. The movie is different in terms of the narrative, story ground, and symbolism. Check the movie and you will definitely have a different experience.
